African Music Inspiration

Salif Keita - "Africa"

Salif Keita is an inspiration, a musical genius and an insightful poet. His music is poetic - somehow touching all facets of life. Salif sings about personal experiences that are universal to all regardless of ethnicity; he sings stories of African lifestyles and pressing issues such as discrimination against albinism in some African communities (check out his album, La Difference). Salif’s music comforts the heart and feeds the soul. Although the songs are mainly in his native language of Mali or French, you can still feel the passion of Salif’s music. His music is a fusion of African and western influences, which some listeners describe as Afro-pop.

Salif Keita - La Difference
Salif sings: "I am black.....my skin is white.....so I am white and my blood is black..."
